Periscope and the continuing evolution of social media

At 11 AM CST for the last few Tuesdays, I’ve hopped on Periscope to chat live about marketing technology and take your questions. We’re just getting started using this tool, but I’m excited about what it may add to my relationship with clients and growing the McNary contribution to MarTech.

This month’s announcement event from Apple highlights not only one company’s contributions and offerings, but also the nature of a landscape forever in flux. Much of the newest technology we’re seeing released is built to maximize on a world where social media reigns and at very least—where social media cannot be ignored.

Often, thinking “social media” may mean traditional platforms: Facebook, Twitter and now, Instagram. As technology and media evolve, though, we see more and more crossover platforms where social media concepts and access combine with more traditional methods for outreach. Periscope is one such platform.

Periscope allows the user to “see the world through someone else’s eyes,” but it doesn’t stop there. It allows users to broadcast live video feeds from anywhere in the world, provided they have a mobile device handy and a few bars of service.

The social, interpersonal possibilities are clear. But what about using Periscope for business? Here’s a great article I found on some innovative ways to consider using this platform to grow and improve how your businesses engages.

Catch up if you haven’t had a chance to join me on Periscope yet:
