It’s that time of year. Football season is just on the horizon, we are starting to dream about crisp fall air, and college students are heading back to school.
Before he leaves us to go back to the University of Iowa, we want to take a moment to introduce you to Noah Clasen, our summer Search Engine Marketing Intern.
Q: Noah, tell us a little about yourself.
A: I’m originally from Cedar Rapids. I’m a senior at the University of Iowa studying business analytics and marketing.
Q: What brought you to McNary Marketing & Design?
A: I first became interested in marketing technology when I took a class that discussed the history of marketing, how it has changed, how it will continue to change, and its current landscape. I was drawn to McNary because of the emphasis on using technology to help businesses grow.
Q: What have you been up to at McNary Marketing?
A: I’ve been researching, cataloging and ranking backlinks to the McNary website, using a grading system we created. We’ll be implementing this research to improve our SEO over time.
Q: How can companies like McNary Marketing help business owners make the most of their online presence?
A: The biggest challenge companies face when dealing with SEO is Facebook or Google constantly changing their algorithms or updating their privacy policies. Constant changes make it difficult to stay aware of best practices. Business owners need to be informed of the changes and work to find the best practices in the new landscape. It’s beneficial to have someone who understands SEO, enabling a business owner to focus on what they do best while driving more people, and the right kind of people, to their site.
Q: Can you share one tip that business owners can do today to improve SEO?
A: My best advice for improving SEO is to be consistent with your messaging across all platforms and with the volume of messaging and content you produce.
Q: What will you be taking away from your time with us?
A: During my time with McNary, I’ve learned that there is no one-size-fits-all solution to marketing. Each business has unique needs, both in terms of technology and strategy.
Q: What are your plans over the next 5 years?
A: After graduation, my goal is to get a job allows me to work on big projects and use new tools to discover new marketing solutions.
Q: What do you do when you aren’t in front of a computer?
A: When I’m not optimizing websites, I like to watch movies, participate in student organizations, spend time with friends, and listen to music.
